Are you having problems with homeschooling?
If homeschooling has felt like a challenge and you want to overcome your struggles, this article is for you.
After homeschooling my kids for more than a decade, visiting with other homeschool parents, and years of observations, I believe there are four primary reasons that parents fail at homeschooling their children.
Video: Why Some Parents Fail at Homeschooling Their Kids
Hi, my name is Jackie, and I’m a longtime homeschooling mom and the founder of HomeSchool ThinkTank.
In the short video below, I explain why homeschooling is hard and doesn’t work for some families.
Homeschool Problem #1 for Moms & Dads
The number one problem for homeschooling parents is that they unintentionally allow the curriculum to come between themselves and their children. In an effort to educate their children, the parent-child relationship is sometimes damaged.
Homeschool Challenge #2 for Families
The second problem arises when parents and children aren’t involved with local homeschooling families. It’s important to have homeschooling relationships with others who live near you. When you are involved with other homeschoolers, you and your children will have support and friends.
Homeschool Struggle #3 for Parents & Kids
As a homeschooling parent, it’s essential to approach homeschooling and education with an open mind. If you try to replicate the public school system in your home, you are unlikely to succeed. You’ll want to learn more about the many approaches homeschoolers use to educate their children from home.
Homeschool Problem #4 for Parents
As the primary homeschooling parent, it’s common to put your family’s needs before your own. However, it is vital that you prioritize and take care of yourself. If you don’t take care of yourself, you are likely to burn out and quit homeschooling your kids. If you want to homeschool successfully and show up as the parent you want to be, then you must take care of yourself.
